Role Overview
Ethniki Asfalistiki is seeking an experienced Senior z/OS COBOL Developer to join our Technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and modernization of critical business applications running on IBM Mainframe platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives while contributing to ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using COBOL in IBM z/OS environments.
- Design and support batch processing solutions using JCL and JES2.
- Build and maintain online transaction processing applications in CICS environments.
- Develop and optimize DB2 database solutions, including SQL and embedded SQL programming.
- Design and implement integrations through SOAP and REST web services.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate mainframe systems with modern platforms and applications.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning activities.
- Participate in application modernization and transformation projects.
- Prepare technical documentation and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and development practices.
Candidate Job Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in similar role and IBM z/OS, COBOL development environments.
- Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, JES2, CICS, DB2, TSO, and ISPF.
- Experience with SOAP and REST API integrations.
- Familiarity with testing and debugging tools, including SoapUI and Postman.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent command of Greek and English (written and spoken).
- No pending military obligations (for Greek male citizens).
Will be considered a plus
- Experience in application modernization or legacy transformation projects will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience in the insurance or financial services sector will be considered a strong advantage.
