Senior Software Engineer

Rho

Belgradefulltimesenior

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

About Us
Rho is the modern banking platform built for startups. Open accounts in minutes, issue cards, manage expenses, pay bills, and close the books – all in one connected platform backed by real human support.

Rho is building a modern finance platform that helps businesses manage banking, cards, expenses, bill pay, and accounting workflows in one connected platform.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale new financial products from ambiguous opportunity to production-grade systems. This role is for a product-minded backend engineer with strong technical judgment, deep customer curiosity, and the ability to drive complex initiatives across teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who wants to build more than features. You'll help shape new product areas, bring complex financial workflows to life, work directly with cross-functional partners, and grow into broader technical leadership as Rho scales.

You'll work on critical financial workflows and platform capabilities that sit close to how businesses manage money. The work is technically challenging, customer-facing, and often involves regulated systems, operational complexity, and third-party integrations.

What You'll Do

  • Own high-impact projects end-to-end, including our accounting integrations (NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Xero, Puzzle) that keep customers' books accurate and up to date, from problem definition and technical design through launch, iteration, and operational ownership.
  • Build reliable, scalable backend services that power core accounting and financial workflows, and help us expand into new adjacent product areas as the platform grows.
  • Turn ambiguous product and business problems into simple, durable technical solutions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers' accounting and financial operations pain points, and use that context to make pragmatic product and engineering decisions.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance, and external partners, including accounting software providers and financial data platforms like Plaid and Finicity, to move complex initiatives forward.
  • Make thoughtful technical tradeoffs, with a particular focus on shipping quickly without compromising the reliability of money movement.
  • Raise the engineering bar through clear communication, strong system design, code quality, and mentorship.

What We're Looking For

  • Senior-level experience building production backend systems, APIs, services, or distributed systems.
  • Strong product judgment, customer curiosity, and comfort working through ambiguity.
  • Experience owning projects end-to-end is a plus, but we also value engineers who've built deep expertise in complex systems without owning every stage of the lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work cross-functionally with non-technical teams.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments where priorities evolve quickly.
  • A bias toward shipping, learning from users, and continuously improving what you build.
  • Experience with fintech, accounting systems, payroll, payments, banking, compliance-heavy products, or complex integrations is a plus.

Tech we use
Python, Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP. Experience with this exact stack is helpful, but not required. We care more about strong engineering fundamentals, product ownership, and the ability to learn quickly.

What We Offer
Our people are our most valuable asset. Base salary may vary depending on relevant experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs.

Benefits

  • Top-notch Private Healthcare Insurance for you and your family members
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Lunch at work
  • Covered costs for parking for onsite staff
  • Learning and development budget
  • Paternity leave
  • Hybrid work environment (with old town Belgrade office)

Diversity is a core value at Rho. We’re passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable environment for all those involved with our mission, including employees, contractors, candidates, customers and vendors. We believe every member of the Rho community enriches our ability to provide a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the market, identify problems, and drive solutions that align with our mission. We welcome all qualified applications and support each of our Rho’ers with ongoing professional growth opportunities.
