Software Engineer Mobile Charging XP

Electra

Paris

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

🏠 What Do We Do?
The shift to electric mobility is happening. Electra is accelerating it.
Transportation is one of Europe's biggest sources of carbon emissions. Since 2021, Electra exists to make charging so simple that electric vehicles become the obvious choice for everyone.

In 5 years, we've built a team of 300+ talents from 21 nationalities in 10 countries.

We’ve grown into one of Europe's leading fast-charging operators by deploying fast, reliable infrastructure and user experiences across our own network, and we’re now expanding to thousands more charging points in Europe with our own eMSP.

Backed by over €1 billion in funding, we’re looking for bold, passionate, collaborative talents to drive Europe’s energy transition.

If that sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you!

đŸ’Œ Your Mission
Join Electra's Charge XP team in Paris and help build the mobile apps that hundreds of thousands of drivers use every month to find, start, and pay for a charge. The team owns Electra's end-to-end charging experience as an eMSP: not just on our own stations, but across partner networks in Europe. Our mission: become a leading mobility player where our network is locally strong by 2027.

đŸŠžâ€â™€ïžđŸŠžâ€â™‚ïž Your Responsibilities

  • Build and ship the core mobile experience
  • Design, ship, and maintain features in our cross-platform mobile app used at real scale: map and search, station discovery, charge start and monitoring, payment, badges, and support flows.
  • Care for the details that make an app feel excellent: navigation, transitions, error handling, latency, offline behavior. Because look and feel is what drives adoption against competition.
  • Own driver-facing problems end to end
  • Take features from discovery through rollout: seamless charging (Autocharge, RFID badges), station scoring and recommendation, search revamp, in-car and CarPlay experiences.
  • Follow through after release: instrument what you ship, read the store reviews and Intercom tickets, and iterate. Our compass is end-to-end successful session rate and post-charge CSAT.
  • Raise the engineering bar for a fast-growing app
  • Simplify architecture, pay down debt, and strengthen the design system so the team can move fast without breaking the charge.
  • Mentor peers while staying hands-on as an individual contributor, and use modern engineering practices and AI tooling responsibly to accelerate delivery while protecting quality, privacy, and maintainability.

😎 Your Profile

  • You are an experienced hands-on mobile engineer with a strong track record shipping and operating consumer apps in production at meaningful scale.
  • You enjoy owning a feature beyond the client: talking to backend and product, understanding the API, instrumenting the funnel, and debugging what happens in the physical world.
  • You bring strong technical judgment, ownership, product sense, and attention to UX quality, performance, reliability, edge cases, and real-world failure modes.
  • You are a fast learner, comfortable entering a complex domain (charging protocols, roaming, payments) and collaborating closely with product, design, operations, and customer care.
  • Experience with Kotlin or React Native, native iOS/Android, app store release management, observability.
  • AI-assisted engineering is a requirement.
  • This role is based in Paris.

âšĄïž What Electra Offers You

  • A key role in a massive international rollout of Europe’s largest fast-charging network
  • Opportunities to grow across engineering, operations, and strategy
  • A collaborative and mission-driven environment
  • Real impact on the energy transition and the future of mobility
  • An attractive compensation package with fixed and variable components (evaluated and paid quarterly)
  • Spacious offices, ideally located in Paris
  • 2 days of remote work per week
  • Alan health insurance (50% covered by Electra)
  • Meal vouchers via Swile card (€10/day, 50% covered by Electra)
  • 25 paid vacation days + 12 RTT (reduction of working time) days
  • SYNTEC collective agreement (including vacation bonus, additional leave for special occasions, etc.)
  • A quarterly company-wide event with the entire Electra team
  • Sustainable Mobility Package
  • Access to the company benefits platform (CSE) with numerous perks (culture, sports, etc.)
  • Access to a platform dedicated to mental health, supporting your well-being at work and beyond, including up to 4 sessions per year with certified practitioners, covered by Electra

Even if your profile doesn't match 100% of every criterion, we encourage you to apply. At Electra, we strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, safe, and free to be themselves.

We are committed to equal opportunities and do not tolerate any discrimination based on religion, cultural background, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

💚 We value potential, motivation, and a learning mindset just as much as experience. 🚀

)
-
Every Qontoer gets unlimited access to the best AI tools. We want people who experiment without waiting for permission, push AI beyond the obvious, know when to trust it, and when to question it.

Location:
You can choose to work at Qonto as long as you're living in (or willing to relocate to) either Germany, France, Italy, Serbia, Portugal, or Spain.

âžĄïž Mission

Join us as an
Android Engineer
and help us build the mobile experience that
600,000+ European businesses
rely on every day to manage their finances. You'll own product-critical features end-to-end — from technical design to rollout — in a large, modular Kotlin codebase where craft and velocity both matter. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Frontend.

âžĄïž What you'll do

  • Own features end-to-end: You'll take ownership from discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout, and iteration on features that help businesses pay, get paid, and stay in control.
  • Drive technical decisions in your squad: You'll shape solutions with Product, Design, and Backend by clarifying tradeoffs across UX, performance, security, and time-to-market.
  • Raise app reliability and maintainability: You'll improve architecture, performance, and test strategy to scale the app without compromising stability.
  • Tackle complex mobile challenges: You'll contribute to real-time synchronization, resilience patterns, and smooth navigation in a modular codebase with ~1,000 modules.
  • Grow the team's Android craft: You'll lead code reviews and technical discussions, share patterns, and mentor peers to raise the bar on quality and delivery.

âžĄïž What we're looking for

  • Strong Android native experience: You've shipped and maintained production features with Kotlin and are comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end.
  • Quality-driven mindset: You care about testing (unit, UI, snapshot), clean code, and pragmatic standards that keep teams moving fast.
  • Problem-solving approach: You thrive in ambiguity and turn complex constraints into simple, robust solutions.
  • AI-native workflow: You use AI coding tools daily to amplify your output — not just experiment with them.
  • Collaborative by nature: You're fluent in English and contribute through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

âžĄïž What we can offer you

  • An AI-first engineering environment: Unlimited access to Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot — and a culture that expects you to use them to raise the bar, not just go faster (click here to read our vision statement on AI)
  • Engineering standards that scale: Strong code review culture, continuous refactoring, and a focus on correctness in a regulated context.
  • A technically demanding domain: Fintech constraints — security, compliance, real-time data — push you to solve problems most mobile engineers never encounter.

âžĄïž Our methodology, the Qonto Way

  • We value upfront technical design, team reviews, and smart slicing — quality drives the velocity our customers need.
  • Our org assigns one team lead per project across stacks, giving your team a clear mission and full autonomy on how it operates.
  • Our lean toolbox, Kaizen and PDCA, lets you monitor and drive continuous improvement collaboratively with your peers and manager.

Want to go further? Click here

âžĄïž Our stack & practices

  • Kotlin-first & modern concurrency: 100% Kotlin codebase with Coroutines + Flow throughout.
  • Architecture: MVVM + Clean Architecture with modular design (~1000 modules).
  • UI direction: New screens built with Jetpack Compose, with a large share of legacy views already migrated.
  • CI/CD & quality: GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Firebase Test Lab, Sonar, Fastlane.
  • Testing culture: 26k+ unit tests, 14k+ snapshot tests, 500+ UI tests.

âžĄïž Your future team

As an Android Engineer, you will join one of Qonto's
squad teams
, each organised around a
clear project mission
, with one team lead and full ownership of a product scope. You'll be part of a
140+ mobile engineering community
within a 500+ Product Engineering department, working in focused
teams of 5 to 10 people
alongside Product, Design, and peers from Frontend and Backend.

At Qonto, we understand that true diversity isn’t just about ticking boxes on a hiring checklist. Apply regardless of the boxes you tick — who knows? You may have the missing piece of the puzzle we’ve been searching for all along.
