Are you an experienced Python Engineer who thrives on high ownership, complex backend systems, and seeing your code directly drive business success?

Our client, a leading player in the technology distribution and IT solutions sector, is expanding its technical team. On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Software Developer (Python) to take full ownership of backend execution and elevate system reliability.

This is a hands-on, high-impact engineering role designed for an autonomous professional who prefers technical mastery and system architecture over people management.

This role is full-time, permanent and based in Athens, northern suburbs.

Responsibilities

  • Backend Architecture & Logic: Design, build, and optimize backend systems utilizing Python and Django, ensuring core business logic remains flawless and reliable.
  • Data Integration & Persistence: Manage and optimize data flows across PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server environments, writing efficient SQL queries and maintaining complex third-party integrations.
  • Infrastructure Support: Monitor and safeguard production environments running on virtualized systems (Hypervisors) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP/Kubernetes), proactively mitigating scalability risks or server bottlenecks.
  • Targeted Frontend Support: Handle lightweight presentation layers, including basic JavaScript/CSS adjustments, Django templating, and the maintenance of marketing-aligned WordPress/Elementor pages (without custom theme development).
  • Technical Ownership: Work alongside business management to evaluate trade-offs, communicate implementation risks clearly, and ultimately allow leadership to step away from daily coding duties.

Qualifications

  • Backend Expertise: Proven, solid experience developing and supporting production-grade systems using Python and Django.
  • Database Proficiency: Strong command of SQL, with practical knowledge of database management in PostgreSQL and/or MS SQL Server.
  • Environment Familiarity: Hands-on experience navigating cloud or virtualized infrastructure, such as GCP or Hypervisor-based VMs.
  • Frontend Basics: Functional knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and basic web presentation concepts.
  • Adaptable Mindset: Exceptional ability to work independently, manage legacy codebases alongside evolving systems, and maintain a sharp awareness of business impacts.

We’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer with strong Java skills and a solid background in distributed data processing. You’ve worked on systems where data moves reliably at scale — whether through streaming pipelines, batch jobs, or both — and you understand the JVM well enough to reason about performance when it matters. You’ll be contributing to open source data platform technology that leading enterprises worldwide depend on to process and manage their data.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop distributed data processing components in Java, with a focus on throughput, reliability, and correctness.
  • Build and maintain stream and batch processing pipelines that handle large-scale data workloads in production.
  • Apply JVM performance knowledge to optimize data processing systems under real production conditions.
  • Collaborate with platform and data engineering teams to deliver scalable, well-tested solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards across the data platform.
  • Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues in distributed processing components.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in IT roles.
  • 3+ years of experience with Java as a primary programming language.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed data processing systems.
  • Background in stream or batch processing infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of JVM performance fundamentals.
  • Open source contribution experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.

📍 Tworzenie i rozwój skalowalnych usług backendowych (Python, FastAPI) napędzających platformę AI.

📍 Budowa i optymalizacja potoków RAG, systemów agentów AI oraz orkiestracja modeli LLM na produkcji.

📍 Wsparcie w tworzeniu infrastruktury chmurowej (AWS / Azure), w tym izolacją wieloabonencką (multi-tenant) i funkcjami serverless.

📍 Tworzenie elastycznego ekosystemu integracji sterowanego przez API oraz zewnętrzne konektory.

📍 Prowadzenie przeglądów kodu (code reviews), dbanie o standardy testowania i mentoring młodszych inżynierów.

📍 Dbanie o bezpieczeństwo systemu (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC, ochrona przed prompt injection).

Wymagania
⚡️ 3-5 lat doświadczenia komercyjnego w backend engineeringu z wykorzystaniem Pythona.

⚡️ Bardzo dobra znajomość frameworka FastAPI (async, Pydantic, dependency injection).

⚡️ Doświadczenie w pracy z PostgreSQL (projektowanie schematów, optymalizacja zapytań, migracje z Alembic).

⚡️ Doświadczenie z systemami AI (LLM, RAG) -> tool calling, function calling, multi-step reasoning, MCP / Model Context Protocol

⚡️ Wiedza z zakresu chmury: AWS (Lambda, S3, ECS, API Gateway) i/lub Azure.

⚡️ Znajomość Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) oraz IaC (Terraform / AWS CDK).

⚡️ Doświadczenie produkcyjne w integracji API modeli LLM (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini).

⚡️ Bardzo dobra znajomość języka angielskiego w mowie i piśmie.

⚡️**
Znajomość TypeScriptu (zaawansowany system typów: generics, utility types, conditional types).

⚡️ Praktyczna znajomość Celery oraz asynchronicznego przetwarzania zadań (Redis / RabbitMQ).

  • Vous avez déjà travaillé dans un environnement Agile ainsi que sur ses outils (JAVA / ANGULAR / REACT / Hibernate / Spring / SpringMVC / Web API / JavaScript / HTML / CSS / PostGreSQL / SQL Server)
  • La maîtrise de l’anglais et la pratique de l’Agilité seront de véritables atouts
