The studio that builds the future of food retail.

Why do it with us?

We make sure you have all the tools and support you need.
We're a welcoming group of code crunching comrades.
We tap into the extensive capabilities of our Ahold Delhaize network.
What does this mean for you?

We’re AD/01, the tech studio that builds the future of food retail. Whether it’s in-store aisles, online baskets, or behind-the-scenes operations, we innovate the daily food experiences for farmers and families, grandmas and greengrocers, and pickers and packers alike.

We’re part of the Ahold Delhaize network, one of the world’s largest global food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. With 19 strong local brands in Europe, the United States, and Indonesia, we create a meaningful difference for our customers, our people, and the world around us. And we’re looking for the freshest minds excited to create the recipe for change.

Your new role and environment.

We’re the Data & Analytics team at Ahold Delhaize — a cross-functional group of engineers, analysts and product thinkers building the data foundation that powers one of the world’s largest retail and food service companies.

We work in small, autonomous squads where engineers have genuine ownership — over architecture choices, tooling decisions, and the quality of what ships. There’s no long chain of approvals to get good ideas moving.

Rocket is the team’s name

You’ll have a wonderful combination of freedom and responsibility so that you can take ownership of the work that you do. You’ll find your horizons broadening, too, thanks to working with people as smart and encouraging as you but from different countries and areas of expertise. You’ll always feel supported, too. We want people who are better than us and we’ll do everything we can – building your talent and skills – to help you stay ahead.

Key responsibilities of your role.

  • On a day-to-day basis, you’re aligning with the Functional Analyst and the Solution Architect to ensure a good understanding of both the requirements and the architecture guidelines to apply for the solution delivery.
  • You contribute with your peers to establishing high quality standards and best practices in your area of expertise.
  • You are responsible for maintaining all deliverables up to date, including the E2E “as-built” views of all data products in your scope.
  • You and your team take an active part in the operational support process by providing assistance in case of incidents requiring a code-based fix or workaround.

What’s in it for you?

We ask a lot. (We’re looking for the best, after all). But we offer a lot, too.

So, what do we have in store for you? We offer flexible hours and a hybrid working model, allowing you to work both from home and at the office. We provide competitive benefits to support health, well-being and your professional growth. This includes: a significant budget on benefit platform and a yearly bonus. At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across-brand network.

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of experience working as a Data Engineer
  • Azure data ecosystem (ingestion, storage, analytics & data visualization): Azure Ingestion framework, Data Bricks, Azure Synapse, Delta Lake, MS PowerBI
  • Exposure to Cloud native data platforms and modern architectures (event-driven, real-time)
  • Thorough understanding of data lifecycle value chain and underlying components (ETL/ELT, DWH/Data Lake)
  • Familiar with SDLC tools & framework (CI/CD, Automation, monitoring)
  • Previous experience working in a scaled agile environment
  • Data modelling skills (from logical to physical model, different modelling techniques: star schema, data vault) and exposure to MPP frameworks
  • Functional and Technical architecture principles
  • Excellent command of the English language both written & spoken

It goes without saying that so-called ‘soft skills’ are just as important as their ‘hard’ cousins. We highly value:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex matters into simple concepts
  • Teamwork and ability to operate within a large team in a matrix organization: involves others, shares knowledge and seeks opportunities for cross functional working and collaboration
