About .Monks
Monks is the industry’s Agentic Transformation Partner, architecting the future of real-time brands. As a global marketing and technology services company, we go beyond traditional boundaries to design and operate Agentic Operating Systems that help brands innovate, organize, and operate at the speed of culture.

With a global team of nearly 6,000 digital experts across 33 countries, you'll find a diverse group of colleagues with different backgrounds and perspectives. Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled
Full-Stack Developer
to drive the evolution of our proprietary central orchestration platform. In this role, you will bridge the gap between practical user experience and powerful server-side logic, helping us scale the internal tooling that enables our teams to operate more effectively and competitively.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for UI execution, a proven "feel" for UX, and strong engineering fundamentals. You will translate complex management requirements into user-friendly, responsive interfaces while building high-performance APIs, robust bi-directional integrations, and automated workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Frontend Architecture & UI Execution

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust, responsive, and intuitive web applications using ReactJS and TypeScript.
  • Utilize Material Design libraries (MUI) to build a consistent, professional, and highly functional internal toolkit.
  • Design and manage scalable design systems to ensure consistency across internal tooling projects.
  • Optimize frontend performance and scalability, ensuring the interface remains 100% stable, intuitive, and high-performing.

Backend Engineering & System Integration

  • Develop and maintain robust server-side logic (utilizing PHP/Symfony as our core platform language), ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and document secure RESTful APIs and Web Services that adhere to industry standards.
  • Build and maintain complex, bi-directional data syncs across our enterprise stack (including Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, and other custom internal tooling) to secure "One Source of Truth" across project data.
  • Work with database systems, driving setup, maintenance, query optimization, and structuring.

Platform Evolution & Collaboration

  • Evolve core platform features to meet adapting business needs, including time-tracking modules, timesheet approval workflows, and advanced data validation.
  • Integrate AI-driven features like agentic workflows to automate internal processes and scale operational efficiency.
  • Focus on reducing "gap time friction" and automating manual workflows to accelerate business velocity and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex full-stack issues, bottlenecks, and performance bugs.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, and support to the wider Monk community on the platform’s capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience.
  • Frontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in ReactJS, with a solid foundation in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3. Strong understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Backend Expertise: Strong backend development background. Experience with PHP and MVC frameworks (such as Symfony) is highly preferred; however, we are fully open to strong engineers from other language ecosystems who are willing to quickly adapt, leveraging AI-assisted coding and development tools to bridge any syntax gaps.
  • Integration & APIs: Proven experience in REST API design, Web Services, and integrating third-party APIs (including authentication protocols like OAuth).
  • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/virtualization tools (e.g., Docker).
  • Curiosity-First Mindset: You don’t wait for a manual; you play, break things, and ask "What if?" to adopt new tools and workflows.
  • Collaboration: Experience working effectively in agile development environments (Scrum/Kanban). Excellent communication and alignment skills.
  • Language: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Technical Skills

  • Frontend Tooling: Familiarity with modern frontend build tools and UI frameworks/libraries (e.g., TailwindCSS, Styled Components, Material UI, Vite).
  • Testing: Experience with full-stack testing practices and frameworks (e.g., Vitest, Jest, Playwright).
  • Databases: Proficiency with database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure: Knowledge of DevOps practices, Git version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security: Strong understanding of security principles and best practices in web application development (OWASP, data privacy, secure authentication).

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with ERP and CRM integrations, specifically NetSuite and Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma to facilitate developer-to-designer handoffs.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Experience or secondary proficiency in other programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python).

Role description

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers. A company where team members grow to their full potential. A company that functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. A company that creates value for shareowners at an extraordinary rate. And a company that does so while adhering to high ethical standards.

In pursuit of this objective, we acquire and improve digital businesses, not to sell on, but to own and operate for the long term. The transformations we make are often deep—designed to speed up innovation, benefit customers, and strengthen business performance. Here, hierarchy is minimal and teams are small and talent-dense. We operate established products with the ambition, agility, and urgency of a startup. Across the company, we integrate AI deeply into how we work so that human judgment and machine intelligence reinforce each other.

For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress their career at an exceptionally high rate. That’s our promise to such a candidate.

A few examples of your responsibilities

  • Build software that matters.
Take real ownership from idea to production, creating systems used by millions and evolving them into products at scale.
  • Amplify your impact with AI.
Integrate the most powerful AI tools directly into your development workflow—design, implementation, testing, and documentation—to move faster while maintaining high standards for correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Master your toolkit.
Work across diverse stacks with end-to-end ownership, choosing the right technologies for each challenge. From monoliths to microservices, gRPC to REST, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—you’ll apply technologies thoughtfully, focusing on depth and purpose rather than trends.
  • Simplify relentlessly.
Question every layer of complexity. Improve architectures, pipelines, and codebases to build systems that are simpler, more scalable, and easier to maintain.

What we look for

  • Reasoning ability.
Given the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems. You think from first principles, and structure your ideas sharply. You resist the influence of biases. You identify and take care of the details that matter.
  • Drive.
You’re extremely ambitious in everything you do—and your initiative, effort, and tenacity match the intensity of your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work. You hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
  • Team spirit.
You give generously and without the expectation of receiving in return. You support the best idea, not your idea. You're always happy to get your hands dirty to help your team. You’re reliable, honest, and transparent.
  • Proficiency in English.
You read, write, and speak proficiently in English.

What we offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams.
You’ll work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth.
We go to great lengths to hire individuals of outstanding potential—then, our priority is to put them in the ideal position to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And if you’ve got what it takes, you’ll soon be playing an essential role in major projects, too.
  • All. These. Benefits.
Flexible hours, remote working, unlimited backing for learning and training, top-of-the-market health insurance, a rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We help each Spooner set up the conditions to do their best work.
  • A flexible start date and part-time options.
You don't need to wait until graduation to apply. We offer flexible start dates and the possibility to begin part-time, transitioning to full-time as you complete your degree. Many Spooners joined before graduating and progressively took on greater responsibility, with arrangements that allowed them to do so without compromising their education.
  • Competitive pay and access to company equity at a discount.
Typical annual salary offers range from £85,797 to £151,436 in London and from €66,065 to €107,837 elsewhere in Europe. The lower end of these ranges applies to candidates with little or no relevant experience, while exceptionally experienced candidates may receive offers of up to £316,052 in London or €240,330 elsewhere in Europe. Candidates offered a permanent contract may choose to receive part of their compensation in discounted company equity.

Commitment & contract

Location
Milan (Italy), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK), or fully remote from eligible countries.

The selection process
In our screening process, we prioritize verifiable signals of excellence, regardless of seniority. There are no preferential paths beyond what your application demonstrates, and we evaluate every candidate through the same process.

Some people hold back because they feel they lack experience or have an “imperfect” CV. If you like the role and believe you could excel over time, don’t self-reject.

All applications go through our careers page, which is the only way to be considered. If you pass our screening, you’ll be asked to complete one or more tests. They are challenging, may involve unfamiliar problems, and can take several hours. To learn more about what to expect throughout the selection process, you can find additional information here.

We set the bar high and won’t extend an offer until we’re confident we’ve found the right candidate. This is why a job may remain open for months or be reposted several times.

We consider all applicants for employment and provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities—please let us know through this form.

Before you apply
If you’ve applied before but didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.

Bending Spoons is a demanding environment. We’re extremely ambitious and we hold ourselves—and one another—to a high standard. While this tends to lead to extraordinary learning, achievement, and career growth, it also requires significant commitment.

To help you ramp up quickly and set yourself up for success, we expect you to spend most days in our Milan office during your first few months with us, regardless of your long-term work location. It’s the best way to rapidly absorb our company culture and build trust with your new teammates. We’ll support you with generous travel and accommodation assistance. After that, you’re welcome to work from one of our offices, or remotely from approved countries—depending on what we agree at the offer stage.

If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to give your best, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now—we can’t wait to meet you.
