Role description

đŸȘ Discover our galaxy
Join the Future of Work ! Malt is Europe's leading freelance marketplace, connecting over 1,000,000 talented freelancers with 100,000+ companies. Founded in 2013, we're transforming how work gets done through our tech-powered, human-centered platform. What makes us different:

  • A diverse team of 600 Malters across 6 European countries
  • A culture that champions equality (50% of our Comex are women) and inclusive growth
  • Backed by top investors including ISAI, Serena Capital, Eurazeo Growth, Goldman Sachs, and BPI
  • A mission to give everyone the freedom to work differently

Ready to help shape the future of work? Your next chapter starts here! đŸȘ

At Malt we believe that Ambition is the Way, so all lists of missions and responsibilities are non-exhaustive.
Explore your future career
You will join the Platform team, the foundational engine driving the Malt marketplace across our backend (Kotlin/Java), frontend (Nuxt/VueJS), and GCP cloud infrastructure.

Your mission is to define and drive the long-term technical vision for that platform: the shared foundations, tooling, and internal infrastructure that every engineering squad builds on, and the agentic workflows that will change how we ship software.

Both matter equally - a strong agentic layer only compounds on solid platform foundations, and our foundations only stay relevant if they make autonomous workflows a first-class citizen.

Either way, the goal is the same: multiply the output of everyone who touches our product, reliably and securely, at Malt scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the Long-Term Platform Tech Strategy: Define the 2–3 year technical vision and roadmap for Malt's engineering platform — backend, frontend — alongside platform leads, ensuring architectural consistency, security, and high reliability across all engineering squads. Agentic capabilities are a central pillar of that vision, not a side project.
  • Architect Platform Foundations: Partner closely with Backend, Frontend, and SRE leads to design and build our company-wide platform foundations — from core shared infrastructure through to our agentic layer, consolidating existing POCs into unified, enterprise-grade capabilities.
  • Pioneer Agentic DevEx Workflows: Prototype, scale, and embed autonomous AI agents into the software development lifecycle (e.g., agentic MR reviews, automated code quality, and security fixes) so product teams can focus strictly on core product logic.
  • Deliver Platform-as-a-Product: Provide product engineers with self-service tools, reusable components, clear guardrails, and documentation making both our platform foundations and our autonomous workflows the natural, default way to ship software at Malt.
  • Build, Hands-On: Contribute directly to the platform. You'll write production code on the systems you design: the hardest parts, the reference implementations, the things nobody else can unblock.
  • Raise the Bar: Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and high-quality engineering processes, including thorough code and architecture reviews. Foster operational excellence across the platform.
  • Mentor and Coach: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the platform team, particularly Senior and mid-level engineers, helping them develop their skills, master agentic patterns, and advance their careers.
  • Drive Technical Alignment & Change Management: Act as a technical catalyst, influencing and aligning backend, frontend, and engineering leads around transformative AI agent paradigms without relying on top-down authority.

About You

  • Technical Expertise: You have 15+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including a proven track record operating at a Staff or Principal level in high-scale platform environments. You're highly proficient in Kotlin or Java, comfortable across GCP and modern web frameworks (e.g. Nuxt/VueJS), and at ease navigating complex backend architecture, APIs, and data models.
  • AI-Driven Innovator: Passionate about AI topics, you regularly keep up to date with the latest developments. You have already built product-grade agentic workflows within the software development lifecycle: systems engineers rely on daily to review, test, or ship code, not demos or POCs.
  • Clear leadership: You excel at working effectively in uncertain and evolving environments, managing the interaction between technical objectives and business priorities.
  • Platform as a Product Mindset: You think beyond the code. Your product is the developer experience: you're curious about the "why" behind the workflows, core components you build, proactive in proposing improvements, and you own delivery from A to Z: including the adoption, not just the architecture.
  • Resourceful: You always find a way of getting things done, even under severe staffing constraints.
  • Impactful: You demonstrate excellent ownership and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of agency in driving solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities: You possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English (French is a valuable bonus).

How to join the mission?

  • Initial Screening Call (45m): First exchange with Olivier Lachenaud (Talent Acquisition Business Partner) to explore your background, career aspirations, and answer any initial questions.
  • Manager Interview (60m): Deep dive into your technical background, domain experience, and alignment with AnaĂŻs Ghelfi (Hiring Manager & Engineering Director).
  • Technical Business Case & Debrief (2h): Practical architecture exercise and debrief with Staff Engineers to evaluate your systems design and agentic architecture mastery.
  • Executive & Culture Fit Interview (2h): Final conversation with Claire (CTO) to discuss Malt’s long-term vision, followed by an informal coffee chat with RaphaĂ«l Ouazana & Pierre Reynaud.

Malt is the perfect space to thrive personally and professionally đŸ’«

  • Onboarding: Before easing into your new role, you’ll spend your first week learning about our culture, products, and services with other new joiners at our office in Paris
  • Equity: Every Malter is entitled to stock options
  • Lunch vouchers (legal benefit): €9/day on your Swile card
  • Transportation (legal benefit): 50% reimbursement (any type of transport)
  • Healthcare insurance (legal benefit)
  • RTT: From 8 to 12 days off per year
  • Sports: Company participation to a Gymlib (Wellpass) membership
  • Malt sabbatical: Every three years, all Malters are entitled to a one month fully paid sabbatical leave
  • Free books: If you’re interested in learning more about any topic relevant to Malt’s business, just tell us the books you’d like to read, and we’ll order them for you—without any questions asked or approval processes to follow
  • Remote work: Hybrid policy balancing on-site and home office
  • Team building events organized every year

Role description

We are a global team of Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and Program Managers across Hungary, the US, and many other countries. We help our customers create work cultures that people love.

About the Product

Bridge is a software that people use for learning, self-development, and growing their careers. Our goal? Help organizations build a culture where people thrive. Curious about what it looks like?

Here is a quick intro:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v\=IdelswTXQh8

The Reality of the Role: Voyager - Where Challenge Meets Ownership

At Bridge, our success is built on a massive, mission-critical Ruby on Rails monolith. While our strategic future is being built in Kotlin and Spring Boot, the 'engine' of our platform remains in Ruby.

As a member of the Voyager Team, you will be the guardian of this core. You won’t just be maintaining it; you will be the expert who understands its complexity, fixes critical issues, and ensures that new features – whether written in Kotlin or Ruby – integrate seamlessly into our ecosystem.

The Ideals & DNA of a Voyager Engineer

  • 'No Fear' Attitude: You have been in situations where there was no guide, no documentation, and no one else to fix the problem. You had to figure it out on your own. Because you’ve survived complex production crises before, you don’t panic when facing an ugly codebase—you just roll up your sleeves.
  • High Abstract & Conceptual Thinking: Navigating a massive, undocumented monolith requires an exceptional ability to see the 'big picture' through a foggy window. You can easily grasp high-level system architectures and connect the dots between messy legacy logic and modern microservices.
  • Polyglot & Diverse Background: You have a broad history with tech stacks. You aren't emotionally attached to a single language; you’ve worked with multiple technologies, understand their trade-offs, and treat them simply as tools to solve business problems.
  • Direct Communicator: Our team has a strong, opinionated engineering culture. We value honesty, constructive friction, and direct feedback. You aren't easily offended by sharp critique; instead, you look for the objective truth in every technical debate.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Complex Ruby on Rails Web Application ~60% of your time.
  • Java or Kotlin SpringBoot-based REST API development ~40% of your time
  • PostgreSQL database knowledge
  • Cloud Services:
  • AWS Aurora RDS Clusters
  • Apache Pulsar Messaging
  • Debezium Server-based ETL Data Pipeline
  • AWS Neptune Graph Databases
  • AWS OpenSearch
  • DevOps:
  • CI/CD - GitHub Actions, Spinnaker
  • Monitoring - DataDog
  • Terraform
  • Frontend (occasionally): React & TypeScript
  • Tooling: SAFe, JIRA, Confluence, Slack, GSuite
  • Laptop: MacBook Pro

SRE

Senior Cloud Network Engineer & Architect (remote-only, worldwide remote)

CloudLinux

Remotesenior

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

CloudLinux and TuxCare
build Linux, security, and enterprise infrastructure products used by hosting providers, software vendors, and engineering teams around the world. The Infrastructure team runs the platforms behind that work: data centers, public cloud providers, OpenNebula, Kubernetes/Talos, Ceph, CI/CD, observability, identity and access systems, and internal services.

We are hiring a hands-on
Senior Cloud Network Engineer & Architect
to own and evolve the network layer of our hybrid infrastructure. This is an engineering role with real architecture ownership: you will design, implement, monitor, document, automate, secure, and troubleshoot production networking across data centers, cloud regions, Kubernetes/Talos clusters, OpenNebula environments, and bare metal.

This is a technical ownership role. It is not a diagrams-only architecture position, and it is not a people-management role. You will define technical solutions, ship production changes, verify behavior, support incidents, and leave behind the runbooks, diagrams, and automation that make the next change safer.

How We Work:
We are a remote-first Infrastructure team organized into small senior cells. You will work with one existing network engineer, core infrastructure engineers, and adjacent Infrastructure teams. Networking is a high-impact shared dependency, so we value calm incident work and automation that reduces repeat pressure. The value of this role is turning complex demand into reliable systems, clear ownership, safer changes, and observable operations.

This role is a strong fit if you enjoy moving between architecture, packet captures, production configuration, monitoring, runbooks, rollback plans, and failure drills. You should want real ownership of cross-DC, on-prem, private cloud, and public/provider infrastructure.

It is probably not the right fit if you are looking for a pure architecture role, a large dedicated network team, only planned project work, no incident participation, or manual CLI-only changes without documentation, review, automation, and validation.

What You Will Own:

  • Design and operate reliable cross-DC and hybrid connectivity across IPsec, BGP, routing policy, firewalling, DNS, Cloudflare, provider networking, and cloud connectivity
  • Build highly available network paths across data centers, public cloud providers, OpenNebula, Kubernetes/Talos, and bare-metal infrastructure
  • Own network changes end to end: design, risk assessment, peer review, rollout, monitoring, validation, rollback, and post-change notes
  • Replace fragile manual patterns with documented, observable, repeatable services using Git review, automation, scripts, source-of-truth data, and monitoring
  • Debug and resolve production incidents involving Linux networking, BIRD/FRR, strongSwan, Juniper JunOS, firewalls, Cloudflare, DNS, MTU/MSS, asymmetric routing, NAT/conntrack, packet loss, Kubernetes CNI behavior, and provider constraints
  • Maintain architecture documents, topology diagrams, HLD/LLD specs, runbooks, disaster recovery procedures, configuration snapshots, IPAM/source-of-truth data, and operational handoff material
  • Work closely with IaaS, SRE/Observability, Security, Automation/Data, Platform, Service Delivery, and product teams

What Success Looks Like:

  • Critical cross-DC and provider network paths are easier to understand, monitor, change, and recover
  • Manual or one-off network changes are reduced through documented workflows, automation, review, and validation
  • Network observability improves: alert quality, synthetic checks, flow or telemetry data, and practical SLO thinking become part of normal operations
  • IPAM, routing intent, firewall rule lifecycle, and ownership data are clearer in the source of truth
  • Incidents and maintenance windows have calm execution, clear communication, and useful follow-up notes

Requirements
What You Bring:

  • Senior production networking experience in environments where availability matters
  • Strong BGP and routing fundamentals: prefix filtering, communities, route policy, failover, BFD or similar mechanisms, asymmetric routing, traffic steering, and debugging
  • Strong IPsec, VPN, and site-to-site connectivity experience, ideally with strongSwan or similar tooling
  • Deep Linux networking knowledge: iproute2, tcpdump, nftables/iptables, conntrack, system networking, DNS behavior, NIC/offload basics, and MTU/MSS troubleshooting
  • Datacenter networking fundamentals: VLANs, LACP, switching, firewalls, optics/cabling awareness, maintenance windows, and backup/recovery practices
  • Cloud and provider networking experience: VPC/VNet-style networks, CIDR planning, route tables, security groups/NACLs/firewalls, NAT/egress, VPN, load balancers, DNS, and provider limitations
  • Kubernetes networking fundamentals: CNI, Services, Ingress, NetworkPolicy, node/pod/service paths, egress control, DNS, load balancing, and packet-level troubleshooting
  • AI-Augmented Engineering: You don't view AI as a replacement for deep technical fundamentals, but as a high-leverage tool. We actively use AI agents (Claude, Codex, Gemini, etc.) to automate boilerplate, analyze complex logs, and speed up research. We expect you to be open to modern workflows and integrate AI into your day-to-day operations, allowing you to focus your brainpower on the true architectural challenges
  • Network observability and performance mindset: telemetry, flow logs, synthetic checks, bandwidth and latency analysis, packet loss, jitter, saturation, and provider or appliance limits
  • Network security operations: segmentation, firewall rule lifecycle, least privilege, AAA concepts, secrets handling, and safe maintenance-window discipline
  • Comfort with infrastructure automation using scripting, APIs, Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, Git-based reviews, repeatable rollouts, and configuration validation
  • Clear written communication in remote and asynchronous teams: change plans, incident updates, runbooks, risk statements, rollback plans, and owner/date commitments
  • Sound judgment under uncertainty: you can make bounded decisions, but you verify production impact and blast radius before acting

Nice to Have:
These capabilities are beneficial but not mandatory for every candidate.

  • Juniper JunOS, QFX/EX/SRX platforms, EVPN/VXLAN, MLAG/MC-LAG, ECMP, or leaf-spine network topologies
  • BIRD/FRR, anycast routing, RPKI/ROA/ROV validation, IRR, bogon filtering, route-leak mitigation, or public BGP routing operations
  • Network automation and documentation platforms such as NetBox/Nautobot, Oxidized, GitLab CI/CD, Batfish, containerlab, pyATS, NAPALM, or SuzieQ
  • Hetzner, Cloudflare Zero Trust/DNS/LB/WAF, AWS Transit Gateway, Direct Connect concepts, PrivateLink/VPC endpoints, or Route 53
  • Cilium, Calico, MetalLB, Gateway API, service mesh concepts, OpenNebula networking, Ceph/storage networking, IPv6/dual-stack, DDoS-aware design, SLOs, postmortems, or safe firewall governance

Benefits
What's in it for you?

  • A focus on professional development
  • Interesting and challenging projects
  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours, that allows you to schedule your day and work from any location worldwide
  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leaves
  • Compensation for private medical insurance
  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement
  • Budget for education
  • The opportunity to receive a reward for the most innovative idea that the company can patent
