Job Description
We're looking for a
Staff Software Engineer
to raise the quality bar across our mobile app and backend domain - not by owning a test suite, but by changing how the whole domain designs, ships, and trusts its software.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role.
You'll shape architecture for testability and reliability, own the quality gates that let teams release with confidence, and build a culture where engineers own quality rather than hand it off. You'll operate as a true Staff Engineer: setting technical direction across several teams, going deep in the codebase when it matters, and framing quality as an engineering and business outcome - not a QA phase at the end.

If you've done this in a product with real mobile scale, even better.

Your scope of work will cover 3 areas.
I. Quality architecture & engineering

  • Set and own the quality and reliability strategy across the domain - from the API/contract layer through to native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin) clients.
  • Design for testability and release confidence: quality gates inside release and store-deployment pipelines, device and OS-version fragmentation coverage, and flakiness control at scale (BrowserStack + GitLab CI).
  • Keep the backend/API/contract layer strong and connect it cleanly to the mobile client layer.
  • Drive resolution of quality and reliability issues that cross team boundaries within the domain.
  • Get hands-on in the codebase where your depth moves the needle - prototypes, tooling, reference implementations, thorny incidents.

II. Technical leadership, coaching & culture

  • Shift quality ownership left into the engineering workflow - be the person teams pull in before implementation starts, not after.
  • Mentor senior engineers across the domain and accelerate real, visible growth.
  • Run knowledge-sharing across the org: tech talks, workshops, reusable documentation, pair sessions; co-lead the OneTech community.
  • Co-shape the domain's technical direction with the SEM, with full autonomy within the domain, and analyse quality trends from metrics to identify where to improve.
  • Define quality and reliability metrics and gates, and use them to frame risk in business terms for EMs, SEMs, and PMs.

III. AI governance in engineering

  • Define how AI is adopted for quality and engineering productivity in the domain — which tools, which workflows.
  • Design AI-assisted workflows and set governance and data-security standards across teams.
  • Assess and manage the risk of AI usage (including production-facing work), not just the productivity upside.
  • Mentor engineers on responsible, effective AI use and report on its ROI.

Qualifications
Must-have

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record operating at Staff / Principal / Tech Lead / Architect level - proven impact beyond a single team (standards set for multiple teams, or a cross-team initiative led).
  • Deep ownership of quality and reliability as an engineering discipline - you've set standards and designed testing/quality strategy (not just executed someone else's plan) and changed outcomes measurably.
  • Proven shift-left experience - entering the process before code is written and measurably moving the result.
  • A strong hands-on engineering foundation - you can read, review, and write production-quality code, and teams respect your technical depth.
  • Experience leading technical and process change directly with development teams.
  • A hands-on, critical relationship with AI - using it and assessing its risks, not just its benefits.
  • Fluent English.

Strong plus - this is where you'll stand out

  • Commercial, working-level experience building or testing native mobile apps (Swift and/or Kotlin) at real scale - a major bonus for this role.
  • Experience with BrowserStack and CI/CD (GitLab).
  • Snapshot testing experience (e.g. swift-snapshot-testing, Paparazzi) and introducing mock-based testing standards.
  • Experience in the logistics or e-commerce industry.
  • Fluency in Polish.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with Appium (useful for understanding what we're migrating away from).
  • Experience applying AI in engineering / testing workflows.
  • ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer certification.

Additional Information
Why InPost?

  • An international, cross‑functional environment with experienced engineering leaders.
  • The opportunity to work on products used by millions of users across Europe.
  • Real ownership and influence over teams, technical direction, and long‑term solutions.
  • Flexible working model with remote options in Poland.
  • A strong engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration, and impact.
  • We offer a B2B contract.

Role description

Build the platform where Belgium feels at home.
For over 30 years, Immoweb has been more than just a platform; we are the digital heartbeat of the Belgian real estate market. From first apartments to forever homes, we bridge the gap between dreams and reality for millions of users every month.

Our mission: to inspire, guide and close every home move in Belgium. We make real estate fast, transparent, and stress-free through world-class technology and human-centric support. We are dedicated to connecting people with their property goals, ensuring that at Immoweb, your work has an immediate, nationwide impact from day one.

Your Mission
Who we are
Immoweb is Belgium's leading real estate portal, part of AVIV Group, Europe's largest network of digital real estate marketplaces. Every month, hundreds of thousands of people use our iOS app to search, save, and get alerted about the properties that matter to them. We're currently modernising our native codebase — moving from an older UIKit/MVVM stack to a leaner, more testable Swift 6 architecture — while keeping the app running reliably for our existing user base.

The Seeker squad
You'll join Seeker, a full-stack squad (iOS, Android, Web, Backend, Design) that owns the end-to-end property search and discovery experience: search, filters, saved searches and alerts, and the property detail page. We work in close collaboration with product and design, ship through CI/CD, and care about shipping quality features that scale to hundreds of thousands of daily users.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build native iOS features for the Immoweb app, working closely with our Android, Web, Backend, and Design counterparts on shared feature sets.
  • Contribute to our ongoing migration from UIKit/legacy patterns to SwiftUI, @Observable, and Point-Free's modular architecture libraries.
  • Write clean, testable code (XCTest / Swift Testing) and review your teammates' work.
  • Continuously improve app quality, performance, and stability for a large, active user base.
  • Ship through our CI/CD pipeline in close collaboration with product managers.
  • Be a driving force behind new features — search relevance, alerts, personalisation — and technical improvements alike.
  • Share knowledge with the team and help raise the bar on iOS engineering practices across Immoweb.

What You Bring

  • Solid, hands-on experience building production iOS apps in Swift, ideally including Swift 6 and iOS 18.
  • Strong SwiftUI experience; comfort with @Observable and modern state management patterns.
  • Good understanding of Swift Concurrency (async/await); exposure to RxSwift is a plus, as parts of our codebase are mid-migration.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to adopt, Point-Free's à la carte libraries (swift-dependencies, swift-sharing, swift-navigation, swift-case-paths).
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs; familiarity with Moya is a plus.
  • A solid grasp of software architecture and Clean Architecture principles.
  • Basic knowledge of unit and UI testing (XCTest / Swift Testing).
  • Comfort working with Git and collaborative workflows (GitHub).
  • Excellent communication skills; you're a team player who shares knowledge openly.
  • English is mandatory; French or Dutch are strong assets given our Belgian market.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Swift Package Manager.
  • Familiarity with the Composable Architecture (TCA) or similar unidirectional architectures.
  • Experience with A/B testing and product analytics/tracking.
  • Experience with Bitrise or similar CI/CD tooling.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
  • Experience contributing to or consuming a design system.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence; experience working in Scrum.

What We Offer

  • A friendly, quality-first engineering culture where you'll help modernise a widely-used app.
  • Real ownership over features used by hundreds of thousands of people every day.
  • Hybrid working, with the option to be based in Brussels or Bucharest.
  • Opportunities for growth — training, conferences, and mentorship within a full-stack squad.
  • The autonomy to work in the way that makes you most productive, and a say in the tools you use.
