You work at the intersection of engineering, product management and governance. Beyond designing target architectures, you ensure they are buildable, operable and compliant, guiding teams through lifecycle changes, platform evolution, and large transformation programs (e.g. datacenter renewal, resilience improvements, automation). You are a trusted technical authority who brings clarity, makes tradeoffs explicit and keeps the long term architecture coherent.

  • Life-long learning and plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself
  • Competitive salary as well as other benefits such as:
  • 10% customizable cafeteria,

Your responsibilities:

  • Own the system architecture for IaaS compute and storage platforms (e.g. virtualization, cluster design, SAN/NAS, DRP constructs, zoning and segregation).
  • Define and maintain as is and to be architectures, including architectural principles, guardrails and standards aligned with KBC Enterprise Architecture and Assurance expectations.
  • Create and evolve the architectural runway: enable upcoming platform capabilities while managing technical debt and lifecycle constraints.
  • Guide and challenge solution designs proposed by teams, vendors and integrators; ensure consistency across datacenters and environments.
  • Lead architectural decisions around availability, resilience, performance, scalability, recoverability and security, balancing cost and risk.
  • Act as architectural counterpart in major initiatives (e.g. NewDC, DRP redesign, storage evolution, hypervisor lifecycle, automation initiatives).
  • Bring architectural topics to the appropriate architecture boards and governance forums; clearly document decisions and rationale.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, SDO, Risk and Security to ensure architectures are operationally sound and auditable.
  • Mentor engineers by explaining architectural intent and promoting systems thinking across the teams.

What we expect from you:

  • Strong experience as a System or Infrastructure Architect in complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of IaaS x86 compute and storage technologies (virtualization platforms, SAN/NAS concepts, DRP patterns, capacity and performance design).
  • Experience with integration towards supporting services (telecom, Service Now, PaaS platforms, etc.)
  • Proven ability to design architectures that are resilient, secure and operable in regulated environments.
  • Comfortable working in a SAFe / agile context, translating strategy into enabler epics and architectural guidance.
  • Able to reason at multiple levels: from conceptual models to concrete technical implications.
  • Strong communication skills: you can explain architectural choices to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English

What you can expect during the recruitment process:

  • After sending your CV in English, expect a three-round interview process, one online with our local recruiter, one online in English with the Belgian team leader, and the final round is in person at our office in Budapest (in Hungarian) to get to know each other better.
  • An efficient selection process is important for both of us, so we try to make it as fast as possible, and even if you are not selected we will give you a detailed feedback.
