Introduction:
We're hiring an
Engineering Team Lead / Tech Lead (m/f/d)
in
Munich (hybrid, 3 days on-site / 2 days remote)
to own the architecture of Peter Park's event-driven, cloud-native SaaS platform — a product used by millions of drivers across Europe.
You are the highest technical authority in your squad: a hands-on architect who sets and defends the technical direction while staying close enough to the codebase to maintain deep credibility. Whether you're coming from a Senior/Staff Engineer track or an Engineering Manager background, we care about impact — not titles.
Your Objectives & Role:
- Orchestrate Architecture:
Lead architectural discussions and guide your squad through complex trade-offs. Own the scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our distributed, event-driven infrastructure on AWS. - Lead by Example:
Contribute production-grade code, tackle core features, and run peer code reviews (MRs) that elevate the engineering standard. - Develop Engineers:
Mentor and grow software engineers through continuous feedback, psychological safety, and clear career progression. Shield your team from operational noise so they can do their best work. - Bridge Strategy & Execution:
Translate business goals into actionable technical objectives. Partner closely with Product Managers to balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction. - Drive Ownership:
Foster an entrepreneurial mindset. Help engineers understand the "why" behind architectural decisions and keep customer impact front of mind.
What You Bring:
- Hands-On Leadership:
You're an established Engineering Manager, Staff Engineer, or Senior Engineer ready to own a team. Disciplinary management experience is a plus, not a requirement. - Distributed Systems Experience:
You've designed, scaled, and owned distributed, event-driven systems in a SaaS or IoT environment. You confidently defend trade-offs around consistency, throughput, and cost. - Technical Depth:
Fluency in
Node.js / TypeScript
(our primary backend stack) or our
IoT stack (C++, Python)
. You understand
AWS cloud architectures
well enough to review a senior engineer's work and push it further. - Agile Fluency:
Proficiency with tools like Linear or Jira. You use data to drive team velocity and release frequency. - People-First Mindset:
High emotional intelligence, proactive communication, and the ability to motivate a diverse team with kindness and clarity. - Stakeholder Communication:
Comfortable navigating from engineer-level technical detail to C-level strategic conversations. - Language:
Excellent English (C1+) is mandatory. German is a strong plus.
Our Tech Stack:
- Backend:
Event-driven microservices — Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, BullMQ, Prisma - Frontend:
Vue.js in a monorepo (Turbo, pnpm, Storybook) - IoT:
Embedded & edge solutions in C++ and Python - Cloud & Databases:
AWS (Lambda, EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3), Terraform - Orchestration & CI/CD:
Kubernetes (EKS) with KEDA & Karpenter, GitLab CI/CD - Serverless:
AWS Lambda, Serverless Framework
Work Set-up:
- Munich, Bavaria — hybrid (3 on-site / 2 remote)
- 40h / week, flexible hours
- Permanent contract
- Team: 3-6 people
