Senior Software Engineer (React)

Diligent

Role description

Position Overview:

As a Senior Software Engineer at Diligent, you'll be hands-on in shaping the future of our products by designing and delivering secure, scalable microservices and AI-powered features that transform how organizations manage risk. You'll work primarily in TypeScript with React frontends and Node.js services, using AWS serverless to build solutions from the ground up and modernize existing services.

In this role, you'll join a self-organized, autonomous team where senior engineers lead by example, own services end-to-end, and have real influence over how work gets planned and delivered. You'll help drive architectural decisions, use our AI SDLC to shape technical execution, and play a key role in advancing the team's AI and agentic capabilities.

We're looking for a senior engineer who is a strong team fit and excited to work with a highly collaborative product triad. You'll partner closely with an experienced Product Manager and cross-functional teammates, using thoughtful questions and collaboration to turn ambiguity into clear technical direction. This is a role for someone who enjoys building great software, mentoring others, and pushing practical AI-powered product capabilities forward in a responsible way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and own secure, scalable services end-to-end, guiding technical decisions and evaluating trade-offs across reliability, performance, maintainability, and cost, including where AI-driven components are the right fit.
  • Architect and deliver AI and agentic product capabilities, including LLM integrations, multi-step agentic workflows and intelligent automation. Lead AI-augmented development practices using Claude Code and agentic coding workflows to improve delivery quality and speed.
  • Use the AI SDLC to plan technical work and help shape how the team operates. As a senior engineer, you'll have meaningful influence on execution, including how work is broken down, how cadence and commitments are managed, and how we continuously improve our ways of working.
  • Work effectively across the stack. We expect strong full-stack ownership in this role, while recognizing that most engineers lean more toward frontend or backend. A preference for one area is fine, but the role requires flexibility rather than a strictly frontend-only or backend-only scope.
  • Coach peers and mentor junior engineers, helping raise the bar on engineering fundamentals, AI-augmented practices, and day-to-day execution. We have junior engineers who are eager to learn, and mentoring is an important part of the role.
  • Partner closely with Product, Security, DevOps, and other teams to align on features, deployment, and compliance. Our end users are internal product teams, so you'll be able to work directly with them, gather feedback quickly, and enable them with practical, high-impact solutions.
  • Join a team with strong automated pipelines, healthy engineering habits, and fast feedback loops. We pay attention to meaningful delivery signals, value strong collaboration, and work hard to keep the team environment sustainable and healthy.

Required Experience/Skills

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering in an agile environment, delivering secure, scalable services.
  • Understands high-level LLM concepts (e.g., hallucinations, prompt sensitivity) and safe vs. unsafe AI use cases.
  • Experienced in using AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and prototyping, with critical review of outputs.
  • Skilled in prompt engineering—designing reusable prompts and coaching peers.
  • Proficient in React/Node.js/TypeScript for RESTful APIs (OpenAPI), and hands-on AWS serverless patterns.
  • Comfortable with infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform), containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases; able to design and optimize schemas for performance.
  • Applies security best practices in code and deployments (e.g., IAM, secrets management) and reviews AI-assisted suggestions for safety.
  • Strong communication of technical and AI-related concepts to diverse stakeholders.
